Rational choice of modelling assumptions for simulation of blood vessel end-to-side anastomosis

چکیده

Blood vessels exhibit highly nonlinear, anisotropic behaviour with numerous mechanical interactions. Since exact modelling of all involved effects would yield a computationally prohibitive procedure, practical clinical simulation tool needs to account for minimum threshold relevant factors. In this study, we analyse needed assumptions reliable the end-to-side anastomosis. The artery wall is modelled in geometrically setting as pre-stressed fibre-reinforced composite. study focuses on sensitivity analysis post-anastomosis stress fields concerning assumptions. Toward that end, set full-scale finite element simulations carried out three cases: (i) post-operational stresses are estimated and without taking residual into account, (ii) Different geometries cut recipient vessel examined, (iii) influence errors material stiffness identification field estimated. studied cases (i)–(iii) have shown substantial impact considered predictive capabilities simulation. Approaches more accurate predictions distribution outlined, quest experimental procedures made. As by-product, occurrence pseudo-aneurysm explained.

Results of End-To-Side Hypoglossal-Facial Nerve Anastomosis in Facial Paralysis after Skull Base Surgery

Introduction: The primary aim of facial reanimation surgery is to restore tone, symmetry, and movement to the paralyzed face. Hypoglossal-facial end-to-side anastomosis provides satisfactory facial reanimation in the irreversible proximal injury of the facial nerve. This study discussed the facial function results of end-to-side anastomosing of hypoglossal nerve to facial nerve when the i...

Experimental research on end-to-side anastomosis of peripheral nerves and effect of FK506 on end-to-side anastomosis.

OBJECTIVE To study the effects of end-to-side anastomosis of initially-denatured nerves at different times. METHOD 60 male Wistar albino rats were used to fabricate animal models for the experiment on end-to-side anastomosis of peripheral nerves and 50 female Wistar albino rats were used to fabricate animal models for the experiment on the effect of FK506 on end-to-side anastomosis. Bilateral...

A new heart failure model in rat by an end-to-side femoral vessel anastomosis.

OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to develop a new shunting procedure for producing heart failure in the rat incorporating microvascular techniques and avoiding an abdominal operation. METHOD We performed an end-to-side anastomosis between the femoral vein and the femoral artery just proximal to their trifurcation into the saphenous, epigastric, and distal femoral vessels. RESULTS Of the ...

Comparison of nerve repair with end to end, end to side with window and end to side without window methods in lower extremity of rat

Abstract   Background : Although, different studies on end-to-side nerve repair, results are controversial. The importance of this method in case is unavailability of proximal nerve. In this method, donor nerves also remain intact and without injury. In compare to other classic procedures, end-to-side repair is not much time consuming and needs less dissection. Overall, the previous studies i...

Why Patencies of Femoropopliteal Bypass Grafts with Distal End-to-End Anastomosis are Comparable with End-to-Side Anastomosis.

OBJECTIVE Despite the theoretical favourable hemodynamic advantage of end-to-end anastomosis (ETE), femoropopliteal bypasses with distal ETE and end-to-side anastomosis (ETS) have comparable clinical patencies. We therefore studied the effects of different in vivo anastomotic configurations on hemodynamics in geometrically realistic ETE and ETS in vitro flow models to explain this phenomenon. ...
